In Systema we do a lot of work to free ourselves from mental and physical tension. Freedom is found outside the walls we set for ourselves. I guess you could say the training is an Attack on Tension.

Systema is a unique style that takes an undogmatic approach to teaching self defense. Structured around simple but timeless principles, Systema is a martial art which eschews fixed katas or patterns to memorize, instead using breathing exercises and drills to bring practitioners into a state of present awareness and to retain a calm and relaxed composure to engage in the movements. This is also why Systema has been referred to as a moving meditation - not merely a combative style for the ring, Systema is a deep practice that provides practitioners with a way to live through stressful situations through breath and body control.

Everything we do is un-choreographed and unscripted since we learn principles and not techniques. Training curriculum includes strikes, grappling, weapon and multiple opponents as well as healing and breath work.

This beautiful art of life we have been given the privilege to study is something we want to take to the next level, both for ourselves and our community. As such, Systema Singapore will be embarking on a new exciting journey!

From the early days it was a common saying that everyone has their own Systema - an art of freedom and power which everyone understands and expresses in their own unique form. To highlight the breadth and depth of this art, we are planning a line up of seminars - linking both the topics, community and personalities in a way we have come to understand this art as a community.

3 years of intense study - with a goal of coming out the other side different from how we began. We invite everyone to journey with us as we develop our own Systema X.0!

Bobby was supposed to visit Singapore for a weeken

Bobby was supposed to visit Singapore for a weekend but got stoned and missed his flight - that’s gonna be the story from now on anyway. Without a doubt, Bobby and Sheri’s visit to Singapore that turned a short layover into a long medical tour due to a kidney stone was a very unexpected turn of events, but the longer time gave us a chance to transform the bad situation into a great one through the building of a beautiful friendship.

This is really what Systema and Christmas is all about! 🎄

Train like an urban warrior
A very delicate mix of soft power and speed, topped off with precision. This is how we perceive Yoshiki’s specific presentation of Systema. With snappy movements and a firm emphasis on practicality, Yoshiki’s style might appear to be a purely combat-focused expression of our style – but to believe it ends there would be a mistake. His capture of Systema is a lot deeper than that and his classes carries with it a simplicity that can also be summarized as elegant.
This seminar is an opportunity for all participants to have an ongoing conversation with Yoshiki on what it means to be a warrior in an urban setting. Together we will discover how we as Systema practitioners can carry a heavy peace with the possibility of conflict. Expect many foundational drills and lots of chances to feel how deep the basics can go if only calibrated in the right direction.
The sessions by nature of the classes are approachable by practitioners of all levels and styles. We welcome anyone new to Systema to the seminar to participate fully.

🗓️ Mark your calendars! This coming January 24-25 we will be hosting Yoshiki Kuraoka from @systemaacademy for our opening international seminar of 2026! Yoshiki’s style is highly practical and direct to self defense while also capturing the depth of sensitivity that comes with a diligent study of the inner work as shown by @systemavasiliev. For this reason we highly recommend this seminar to anyone interested in deepening their study of Systema!

The teaching will be very progressive and even those with no experience are welcome!

Systema is a Russian Martial Art which emphasises the whole body and mind connection in its explorations of movements. Lacking any fixed forms and katas, the training helps every participant to find their own individual expressions. This is why the art was first called “Poznai Sebia” or “Know Thyself”.

Training in the Russian Martial Art is a way to truly understand ourselves better to see our limits and pride to see how truly weak we really are.

The training is dynamic and fluid, with no set patterns to repeat. Instead, fun and challenging drills are performed to give every participant a way to break out of a self limiting mindset to understand true freedom.
